Reflecting on the Trees

This piece is about the legend of the tree of knowledge and represents the space in the schism between our heads and our bodies.  The woman represents Eve.  She sits on the tree of knowledge as light emanates and falls into existence from its top.  She is tethered to her heart which sits stranded in the waters of between the tree of knowledge and the tree of life.  The hearts spins its web, hoping to catch remnants of reflected and falling light to sustain itself; should she just raise her eyes she would see the light above her.  The serpent swimming in the waters is in reference to the one in the Biblical story but also to Mayan and other ancient people's legends of greats serpents that bring knowledge.  It dwells in the realm between pure being and matter manifested, observing all thoughts.
